Job Summary:  

The Community School Coordinator (CSC) is responsible for the implementation, integration, alignment, and coordination of the Community School Strategy at the site level. The CSC is an employee of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley also accountable to the school principal. As such, the CSC is expected to plan and align all programs, services and opportunities collaboratively.

This position will work directly in an assigned school(s) and is focused on achieving success in the following areas: core instructional programs, comprehensive support services, family and community engagement, and expanding learning opportunities. Success outcomes will include, but are not limited to, measures associated with student achievement, attendance, behavior, parental engagement, school culture, teacher/staff satisfaction, student health (social, emotional, physical), parental and student satisfaction, effectiveness of wraparound services, and school readiness. The CSC will use data to assess community and student needs, propose solutions, evaluate school strategy effectiveness, and engage in continuous improvement.

The CSC must work to create a high performing Community School partnership within a specific school wherein students and families feel supported, community members feel connected and successful outcomes emerge. The role of the coordinator is complex and requires a dynamic person who can effectively build relationships, work directly with students, families, and schools, and engage multiple partners to achieve success for kids and families. Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • This full-time position will serve as the Coordinator for an assigned school(s) within United Way’s Community School Strategy. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Community Schools and be responsible for the implementation of the Community School Strategy to support student success and child well-being through the following objectives:
  • Convene and staff the site-based Community School Leadership Team, a coordinating body that is co-led by the principal and CSC and may include administrators, teachers, support services staff, partners, parents and others to identify needs, set priorities and coordinate strategy;
  • Coordinate needs and resource assessment activities on an ongoing basis;
  • Recruit and coordinate partners to provide a menu of needs-driven, high-quality programs and services to meet the needs of students, families and community members;
  • Coordinate and monitor program services and activities, to include negotiating agreements with providers;
  • Facilitate cross-referrals of students and families between providers;
  • Promote ongoing communication between service providers, teachers, parents and students;
  • Support the research/evaluation of the community school by supervising and coordinating the collection of data, timely submission of reports and responses to other requests for information;
  • Participate in capacity-building activities, including strategy-wide and site-based trainings, network meetings and study visits, and –with the principal-ensure the participation of other site-based staff;
  • Ensure the alignment and integration of all programming, with the principal’s vision and school-day curriculum, to the fullest extent possible;
  • Closely coordinate efforts with other Community School Strategy and United Way team members to promote school readiness, family engagement, resiliency, and child well-being.

Education and/or Experience:  

✔ At least three years’ experience in social services, education, public health and/or community organizing preferred. Experience with school-based community programming is a significant asset. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, however, significant skill and experience will be considered in place of the degree.

✔ Demonstrated success in coordinating and implementing strategies targeted at creating measurable and meaningful child, family and community change.

✔ An understanding of child development and the impact that early intervention can have on children and families.

✔ Outstanding verbal, written, and presentation skills, with an ability to listen actively and communicate to multiple audiences.

✔ Experience using data for decision making purposes.

✔ Strong computer skills (particularly MS Office) and an extreme comfort with learning new technology.

✔ An ability to work independently or collaboratively in a variety of settings.

✔ Ability to manage projects, partners and volunteers to meet deadlines.

✔ Capacity to develop and meet reasonable goals.

✔ Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance required.

✔ Availability to work a flexible schedule as needed for meetings and events (which may include nights and weekends).

Additional Information:

Work Environment: The work of this role is performed in a variety of in office and outside-the-office settings including, community-based settings in schools, neighborhoods, organizations, etc. You will also visit schools, government offices and other nonprofit agencies with a variety of physical environments and dress standards, so you will need to be very flexible. When in the office, you may use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers/scanners, copiers, filing cabinets.

The Coordinator position is a grant-funded FLSA exempt position. The annual salary is $45,000 plus benefits, and is non-negotiable. Any offer of employment will be contingent on the results of an extensive background check. Fingerprints will be collected and run through the national criminal and sex offender databases.

Job Title: Vice President (VP) of Finance/CFO

Job Summary:

Directs the administration and operation of the financial system, including budgeting, auditing, accounting, financial reporting, and grant management/administration.  Responsible for treasurer functions of investment and cash flow, government reporting, legal issues, and insurance matters.

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Active participation as a member of Senior Leadership Team to provide united, visible, and strong leadership across the organization to instill and develop new thinking, focus, and prioritize efforts to execute the strategic plan; provide guidance, ideas, and collaborative thinking with community investment team and across the organization.
  2. Manages the overall financial management of the organization including record keeping, financial and governmental reporting.  Performs analysis and develops strategies to accomplish business objectives.
  3. Oversees the processing of financial accountabilities and proper controls of general ledger, cash receipts, designations, and reporting.
  4. Assists staff in development of annual budget and tracks and reports monthly progress on budget, P&L, cash flow and collections.
  5. Maximizes operation income while maintaining organizational goals.  Annually reviews guidelines of investment policy to ensure investments of surplus funds for maximum return with minimum risk.  Reviews and research current and future capital projects.
  6. Presents and leads preparation of annual operating statements and budget to the Finance Committee, the Board of Directors, and the President. 
  7. Responsible for the annual audit and staffs the Finance Committee.
  8. Maintains and safeguards the organization’s assets including, but not limited to, general liability insurance, officer and directors’ insurance and all other areas of business insurance.
  9. Administers and updates appropriate policies and procedures pertaining to finance.
  10. Provide leadership and guidance to finance team. Develops/strengthens staff processes and systems.
  11. Assist program managers with gathering of institutional data for grant submissions; coordinate external partnerships; and coordinate with other institutions regarding joint efforts for funding. 
  12. Responsible for reviewing and approving grants and contracts as submitted by staff to verify compliance with institutional policies, applicable laws and regulations and certifications and required guidelines.
  13. Review all modification in awards, requests for extension and revisions in implementation schedules and negotiate with agency representatives concerning these issues; supervise the preparation of correspondence regarding grants and contracts; prepare and administer all sub-awards to partner institutions and agencies.
  14. Create and maintain systems for dissemination of information concerning application processes, compliance matters and other grants-related information.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must show progressive thinking, with understanding of philanthropic trends and best practices in donor-centered fundraising.
  • Demonstrable skills in selecting, coaching, motivating, and training staff and volunteers.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets.

Job Summary: The VP of Economic Development will provide strategic leadership and vision to advance the regional effort to transform our region by creating a highly skilled workforce, and recruiting the semiconductor industry and other advanced manufacturing projects to the Chattahoochee Valley and ensure that its economic benefits are equitable for all people in our region. The position will start by leading the implementation of the Recompete Strategy Development Grant and application for the Implementation Grant for Phase 2 of the program that will range from $20-$50 million. This position will engage a cross-sector coalition. lead research and evaluation, and advocate to create a new workforce, close skills and financial gaps, and create a vibrant community positioned for equitable economic growth and prosperity. The Recompete Program is about investment in economically distressed communities to create and connect people to good jobs. The program targets areas where prime-age employment (25-54 years) significantly trails the national average, seeking to reduce and/or eliminate barriers to existing jobs, while creating new jobs.  The Greater Chattahoochee Valley’s strategy focuses on reducing and/or eliminating barriers to existing jobs within the bi-state region and creating a highly skilled workforce that will attract employers with high-paying jobs. Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establish applicable working groups, facilitate group collaboration, articulate vision, timeline, prepare and submit final application.
  • Organize the regional and local workforce development community to achieve a common vision for regional prosperity through alignment of educational, industry, economic development, and governmental objectives, to include the EDA recompete pilot program.
  • Manage the implementation of the strategy as outlined in the Recompete announcement and program app, working closely with representatives of the five project leads to: 
    • Track activities to ensure targets and outcomes are reached.
    • Identify barriers and develop mitigation plans.
    • Track metrics and make appropriate recommendations for improvements.
    • Ensure connectivity across the five projects.
  • Assess local, state, and federal policies and regulations to identify opportunities and barriers for economic growth and workforce development and oversee advocacy efforts to yield positive change.
  • Ensure an enduring approach to workforce development by achieving the buy-in of elected leaders, formatting appointments of committee, sub-committee, and body leads, and sponsorship by local industry and community partners.
  • Engage with community members and relevant organizations to ensure the perspectives of underserved populations and communities are meaningfully represented in Recompete-related efforts.
  • Assess current childcare gaps and projections, understand the economic impact of closing this gap, and identify evidence-based solutions and incentives for industry and other partners to invest in solutions.
  • Prepare, facilitate, and deliver semi-annual workforce symposiums to increase knowledge of proven and promising practices, promote collaboration among partners, and drive collective action toward shared goals. 
  • Serve as the principal liaison to the EDA and other relevant national and federal agencies.
  • Attend EDA sponsored and other supporting events that facilitate situational awareness, compliance, and achievement of Recompete program end state goals.
  • Strengthen partnerships with key stakeholders, community leaders, and nonprofit organizations to leverage relationships, increase collaboration, and promote understanding, driving sustainable, positive change for individuals and communities.
  • Maintain knowledge of issues, best practices, evidence-based approaches, and emerging research for advancing economic and workforce development at the community-level.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with a cross-sector of partners, to include community-based organizations, funders, government agencies, elected officials, and the community at large.
  • Actively use the data collected by partners to assess outcomes, identify best practices and opportunities for improvement, and report on trends to local, state, and federal stakeholders and policymakers.
  • Identify and seek to fund and/or advance innovative pilot projects to support the region’s vision to propel economic growth and workforce development.

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM JOB SUCCESSFULLY

Education and/or Experience:

  • A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in program development, organizational management, leading complex and high-profile initiatives, and creating strategic partnerships.
  • Experience developing and operationalizing strategic plans and visions into tactical implementation.
  • Clarity of thought, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to put forward articulate and compelling strategic positions.
  • Understanding of economic development practices, workforce and education practices, and public policy.
  • Proven track record of managing robust public-private partnership and building effective coalitions to promote economic development.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, experience incorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, and the correlation to regional economic development.
